USA #2!

Jamming with the Willis bros and Co.

After our reluctant departure from Mexico we often found ourselves loitering around parking lots in close proximity to the ocean. I had a few jam sessions with a couple of very unique avocado farmers. We were delighted to run into Vanessa, who was on a lengthy road trip of her own. We hung out in the Self Realization Fellowship garden and really discovered the meaning of it all. We also got a few waves.

Yes Sur

The crowds of Southern California eventually pushed us north, yet again, to the mountainous Big Sur area. We hiked around, picnicked on the beach and found some amazing firewood covered in pitch. Yes, the times were good.

A great place to hang out

Next on our coastal destinations list was the beautiful little town of Davenport. The northwest winds were a howlin' and we spent most of our time surfing the hook and pleasure point. Northwest winds and big south swell make for a fine recipe for Santa Cruz surf, but, unfortunately blow out a large portion of the rest of the coast.  By chance we caught a reggae festival and saw the one and only President Brown perform. We also spent some time at the most natural bridges that I've seen.

Here she is, in fine form

We carried on with the redwoods in mind, stopping as we pleased, at any and all of the Californian points of interest. One morning we got word of a groovy music festival happening just south of Humboldt in the forest. After weighing our options we decided to relax and dry ourselves out after so much time spent in the water. The festival grounds were right in the redwoods, with a great swimming hole in the Eel River a 2 minute walk away. It was far out.

Friendly faces everywhere.

After Hickeyfest we had an amazing time hiking around in the Redwoods. We drove up Avenue of the Giants, hung out in Humboldt Redwoods, and around Prairie Creek. What a brilliant place to visit.

Some Big ol' deer, huh?

Heres me blending in.

And we were off like a shot. Flying north up the highway at 50 MPH. Thats right folks, thats 80 Kilometres per hour. And Before we knew it, it was raining again.
