Hello and Welcome back to the blog of blue.

How nice is this?

I did a North Island Expedition with 3 amigos. Long slow drive, free boat ride, lots of beach garbage and useless balls of glass. We kayaked through caves, caught fish and even managed to surf once or twice. The water was warm and the wind was often blowing in the right direction. If only there was a little more swell. We ate like kings; fish tacos, ceviche, fish and chips with the irishman's 11/10 potatoes. Only had to sit through 3 or 4 days of sideways rain in a shelter with a piss poor roof. We did a fine job of keeping the fire burning. There was a strong SE wind pushing the smoke off the fire and up into an estuary. All of a sudden the smoke faltered, the storm broke within seconds. Summer time.

Tideline debris
My disgust with the human race in general is constantly being provoked by sights like this one. All along the shoreline, bits of plastic. Broken down bits of plastic from the real mess which is floating far far offshore, and out of sight.
The post in the foreground washed up from Japan.
